Even though we don’t have many places to go this fall, I feel like it can still be really fun to explore different fashion trends. One of my favorite looks for fall 2020 is oversized plaid shirt jackets/coats. I’m loving these right now because they’re casual, comfortable, and easy to wear (exactly what we need for 2020). They also just really remind me of classic Pacific Northwest vibes which is oddly comforting for some reason. It just feels cozy and sort of like home!
The one I’m wearing above (linked here, & similar linked here) is from Sézane, a brand I love and have had the pleasure of working with for a couple years now. The main fabric is a wool/polyester blend but the lining is acetate/viscose so it’s still breathable. It’s technically more of a coat than a jacket, so it’s warm enough to wear into winter with layers! I will say it is a bit expensive, but I will also say (with confidence) that their pieces are made SO well. I own a couple other Sézane coats and they’ve held up great! They’re all about classic, timeless clothing that you’ll have in your closet for years to come.
Over the past year I have become more and more focused on shopping sustainably and really making sure that the brands I’m buying from/working with are doing their part. On Sézane’s website they say “Every single one of our pieces undergoes mechanical stress testing to ensure its longevity. We follow a lean production model, with responsible stock volumes & no overproduction. 85% of our materials are already eco-responsible. We have obtained 3 certifications (GOTS, Oeko-Tex, FSC) and recycled more than 12,000 pieces thanks to our in-store recycling initiatives.“
You could probably find coats/jackets similar to this one at a thrift store or on secondhand shopping apps like Depop or Poshmark. I’ve also linked a couple options below in case you’re interested in checking those out (but disclaimer, not all of these brands are necessarily sustainable). Thick, oversized flannel shirts can even give the same effect when styled right!

Quick note – I am also OBSESSED with these booties. I was on the hunt for a good square toe black bootie for awhile and finally discovered these. They’re very well-made, sturdy, and comfy. The heel height is also perfect. Such a great fall staple!
