How to Style Tall Boots this Fall

Hi beauties! In case you haven’t noticed, tall boots are making a huge comeback this fall. While shorter ankle booties can be “safer” or less intimidating, tall boots are more of a statement and can really spice up an outfit. Today I want to talk a bit about how to wear tall boots this fall since they can be a bit tricky to style!

This post features one of my favorite outfit combos for fall… a flowy dress + boots (both of which were sent to my by Lulus to share with you)! I wore this look in Portland this past weekend when I was there with my mom and really loved it. Both the dress and the boots are from Lulus, one of my favorite online retailers (as you guys probably know) 🙂 .

When it comes to tall boots, you want to make sure you choose a heel height that you’re comfortable with. If they’re super high, you’re probably less likely to wear them. In my opinion, shoes that only get worn a couple time a year just aren’t worth spending money on. These ones were surprisingly comfortable cause the heel was perfect – just about 3 inches.

Something else to keep in mind with tall boots is the calf width. These boots fit mine well but were pretty snug… any smaller and they wouldn’t have fit. Be sure to check dimensions! Sometimes brands will offer wider calf sizes as well which is great.

When deciding what to wear with tall boots, try to pick clothes that will be the most flattering. I typically wear them with mini or midi length dresses or skirts (like I am in this post as well as here and here), or skinny jeans/pants (see here). It can be harder to make tall boots work with baggier pants, so I stay away from that unless I have the perfect combo.

Finally, boots like this are nice to have in your closet at this time of year because they can spice up an outfit so well. No matter what you’re wearing on your body, heeled tall boots (up to your knee or even over-the-knee) take it up a notch and make it a little sassier. For example – imagine this outfit with short booties or sneakers. Still cute, but much more casual.

The most important thing to remember is that if you’re confident, you can pull off practically anything! Even if you’ve never worn tall boots before, I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and adding them to your closet this fall and winter. 🙂 Keep scrolling to see a few of my favorites!

Below are some cute tall boot options for fall! I’m a huge believer in investing in shoes, especially when they’re staples that you’ll get a lot of use out of. I won’t spend a fortune on my shoes, but I don’t mind spending a little for a high-quality pair that I really love. All of these boots are by brands that I have personally tried and really liked! (Vagabond, Dolce Vita, Sam Edelman, etc).

As always, thanks for taking the time to check out my blog… it means more than you know. I have so much fun researching trends / taking photos / writing so having people appreciate what I’m doing is so special to me. LOVE YOU and happy fall!
