Here’s to Firsts

Quick PSA: Other than some spellcheck here and there, I’m telling myself as I begin to write this post that I’m not going to allow myself to go back and edit it, reading and rewriting it a million times until I feel ‘good’ about it. I’m a perfectionist, so this is easier said than done… but first and foremost I want this blog to be a place where I can share my style, thoughts and ideas, discoveries, adventures, and more without worrying about whether or not I’m saying the right thing in the right way. This is part of my vision for this blog as a whole and all of my future posts.

In my opinion, life is all about firsts. Without firsts, we would never encounter the people, places, and experiences that make us who we are. May sound cheesy but it’s the truth, and a daunting one at that (if you’re someone like me who naturally enjoys routine and tends to find change uncomfortable).

That’s what this blog is all about for me. Having recently graduated from college, I am beginning a new chapter of life. This blog is just another first among many others that I’m trying to navigate right now. I’m beginning it with hopes that it will enrich my life – encouraging me to live mindfully. To get out of my comfort zone by trying new things and going new places, all while teaching me more about myself and who I am along the way.

This is something that I have always wanted to do, but until now I let the busyness of life and what others might think get in the way. I feel like there’s this stigma around blogs… often times they seem to be a place where people are just showing off their life. I don’t want this blog to be that.

My intentions are to use this site, which I chose to title simply by using my first and middle names, as a documentation of the different realms of who I am and the things I am passionate about: life-enriching projects, adventures, and experiences; fashion; health and fitness; my home (for now) in the Pacific Northwest; traveling and exploring new places; and more. It will hopefully serve as something I can look back on in the future, almost like an online scrapbook.

All of this being said, I must admit that I would love to gain a following of people who get something out of my posts. I hope to inspire others to be creative and explore their surroundings and beyond – to me this is what life is truly all about. Please feel free to share my blog or specific posts with anyone who you think might enjoy them and/or contact me with feedback (comments, questions, suggestions for posts, etc). I’d like get to know you if I don’t already so that I can learn from you as well!
