If you’ve been following me for awhile now, you know I have an obsession with boutiques. Not only does it feel good to support small businesses, but I find it so fun to see how the boutique owner(s) choose to decorate their space and how they curate certain types of products. It’s extra fun when you stumble across one in your hometown or an area you know well! This happened to me last weekend when I was walking around Ballard, one of my favorite little neighborhoods in Seattle. My sister, cousins and I had just grabbed brunch at The Fat Hen (sooo tasty, highly recommend) then drove over to the main area of the town to stroll through all of the little shops. This was when we discovered Trove Vintage Boutique!
Every single tiny detail in this place is amazing. The second you step foot in the door you can tell that all of the decor and displays were extremely well thought-out. From the funky decoupage fridge to the suitcases full of gorgeous scarves, I was pretty much drooling over everything.
While there I scored and found two cute, similar but different items. An accessory that I’ve been drastically underestimating. You might be doing the same… Read on to find out!
I’m not typically someone who’s drawn to vintage clothing, simply because I don’t always have the patience to sift through everything to find just a few things I like. I’m the same way with thrift stores. Slowly but surely I am learning to love it though!
I do appreciate the concept behind both vintage and thrift shopping… Re-using items that are still in fairly good shape is economical! AND it can be really satisfying when you do find those diamonds in the rough – like old designer handbags and shoes, that dress that just happens to fit you + your style perfectly, or quirky accessories that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.
What I loved about Trove was that all the pieces were only lightly worn and seemed to be chosen really thoughtfully. That being said, I easily found a bunch of items I wanted to buy! I’m trying to stick to my budget though (very difficult), so I just bought two of what I recently discovered was the most underrated accessory… BELTS!
I was inspired to buy these because of something my sister Layne said recently. She pointed out that a belt can add a lot to an outfit, and recommended I get a few more! (Have to mention that she said this after ordering 5 more to add to her collection lol). It is super easy to forget that belts can also tie a look together so effortlessly. At Trove there were a ton to choose from hanging on the pink ladder in the photo above! I found a rustic orange velvet one and a white leather one with gold metal edges.
I used the white belt to style this little ensemble below, and it definitely pulls the top and shorts together perfectly!
See what I mean about the belt?! It really does make the outfit seem more finished and put together. Feelin’ like you need to add another one or two to your wardrobe? Take a look at some of the cutest belts I found online below. Click for more info + to shop!
