3 Reasons to Add a Duster Coat to Your Wardrobe

Hello everyone! It is time to cover another fall trend that I’m alllll about this season, and that is duster coats. According to Wikipedia (which we all know is so reliable) a duster coat is simply a “light, loose-fitting long coat. The original dusters were full-length, light-colored canvas or linen coats worn by horsemen to protect their clothing from trail dust”. Cool, right?! I love how so many styles we are wearing today were originally created for a practical, specific purpose.

I know earlier in the season I discussed why you all should grab yourself a statement jacket, but today I want to share 3 reasons why you might want to snag a duster as well.

1. They’re Perfect for Layering.

Duster coats aren’t meant to be tight and thick. Given that they’re fairly light, they are an ideal item for layering. This makes them wearable in a lot of different climates! For this look I went with a checkered blouse underneath, but if I want to be a little warmer I’ll just wear a chunkier sweater and add a scarf.

2. They’re Easier to Style than You Might Think.

Duster coats pretty much make your outfit. You don’t have to get too fancy with what you wear with them because the duster will probably steal the show. Just put on a simple sweater + skinny jeans and you’re golden.

3. You’ll Feel Like Sherlock Holmes.

I’m serious. You put a duster on and you will instantly feel more confident, fun, and ready to get down to business with whatever’s on your plate for the day (especially if it involves solving a mystery).
