Happy Sunday! How in the world is it October 1st?! Time seems to be flying faster than usual these days.
In my most recent fashion post I told you guys I was going to continue writing about my favorite fall trends for 2017 by sharing them in some blog posts throughout the season! So, onto the next one!
This post features two outfits showcasing trend #2: RED. Last year was all about burgundy, this year it’s red. I’m laughing as I type this because I used to absolutely hate wearing red; I thought it looked horrible on me. After getting over that whole thing and finding these fun pieces, I’m ready to fully embrace this trend! Bold, bright colors in general seem to be in this fall which I think is great.

This first look balances out the pop of red with black. What I love about it is that it’s surprisingly cute given how easy it was to put together. It’s literally just a top, jeans, and booties, but the accessories and ruffle detail on the blouse make it fun!
These jeans follow the cropped denim style that’s been around for a bit, and work well with booties that come up a bit higher. Another thing I used to hate: patent leather. Somehow I got over this one too… I guess that’s what cute shoes will do haha. Both outfits in this post feature patent booties, and I’m totally ok with it.
And finally, this tote by Rebecca Minkoff is actually the bag of my dreams. It has all the pockets a girl could ever need, and the zipper details on the side help to expand or close it for a sleeker profile. Love the tassels, too. And the little studs. It’s just all around amazing. I use it every single day for work so it’s definitely been worth the investment!

This outfit combines a few styles we’re currently seeing a lot of: bell sleeves/ruffles, flare denim, and of course, red. And the best part about it is the fact that these booties are under $30.
I typically don’t buy shoes this cheap, just because I really think a good pair of shoes are worth the investment. I think the fact that I worked in the Women’s Shoes department at Nordstrom for a few years has something to do with this. Naturally, shoes tend to get the most beat up out of everything we wear, so I think they’re worth spending a little more on! These were an exception to my rule since I fell in love with them the second I saw them. As I’ve said before, funky pieces like this are what make your style unique/stand out! & I’m thinking it doesn’t really matter that they’re cheap because I have a feeling red patent leather won’t be in style forever. BUT I did link a nicer version of these by Topshop above in case you’re curious!
The hair scarf I’m wearing is a mini square scarf that can also be worn tied around your head like a headband or around your neck too. It’s a different take on the bandana craze and I love it!
